Black and blue, a Mediterranean dream, exhibition

A question of Enlightenment.
Le Noir et le bleu (Black and Blue), which both makes and denies civilisation are positioned in atitudes of tension in the course of the inaugural exhibition of the Museum of Europe Mediterranean Civilisation, like an inseparable reversal and place.
Thus, the legacy and the shadow of the Enlightenment coexist as the visionary artist Goya rendered visible in his "black paintings". As Jean Starobinski observed about Goya: "An evil reversal substituted darkness for light".
The opening exhibition shows how notions of civilisation and of the Mediterranean are contemporaneous with the Enlightenment.
