Regional Mediterranean Centre Opening, Marseille Provence 2013

Architectural masterpiece by the sea.
A centre of dialogue and exchange, the Centre Régional de la Méditerranée (CeReM) (the Regional Mediterranean Centre) showcases and supports the commitments of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region in the Mediterranean. Open to external proposals and initiatives, it organises its programming in thematic seasons,
which should provide the public with a better understanding of the major issues currently affecting the Mediterranean area. The building, designed by Milanese architect Stefano Boeri, is spread over five levels. Its main spaces, located under water or high up in the air, contribute to creating a very special atmosphere.
On level O, the atrium comprises the reception and information points, a restaurant and a bookshop. Level + 1 has a space reserved for exhibitions in a cantilever, and a freely accessible viewing platform. Finally, levels -1 and -2 are devoted to the permanent exhibition, Parcours des Méditerranées, the agora and the 400-seat amphitheatre.
