An exhibition event!
The exhibition event, The Grand Atelier du Midi revolves around a central diptych of which the first part, From Van Gogh to Bonnard, will be held in Marseille in the renovated areas of the Palais Longchamp - Museum of Fine Arts, and the second part From Cézanne to Matisse will be presented at the Granet Museum in Aix-en-Provence.
The exhibition, as part of Marseille - Provence 2013, covers a long chronology from 1880 to 1960, and illustrates the different movements that have marked the twentieth century including Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, the Surrealists' experiments and Abstract Art.
From the earliest voyages of Renoir and Signac, the South - a land of exchanges open to other Mediterranean shores - was an endless source of inspiration for painters.
