Museum of Mediterranean Archaeology

Discover Egypt in Marseille!
In the Vieille Charité complex, this museum offers an overview of ancient civilisations on the banks of the Mediterranean. The Museum of Mediterranean Archaeology in Marseille houses one of the largest Egyptological collections in France.
A different room is dedicated to the Near East, Cyprus, Greece, Etruria and Rome. One third is dedicated to regional prehistory from the 7th century to 1 A.D.
The objects displayed illustrate the everyday life of Celto-Ligurian communities when Marseille was Greek.
