Old Port of Marseille

One of the busiest places in Marseille.
The Vieux Port or Old Port of Marseille is at the heart of Marseille, and is a rallying point for tourists and locals.
First built way back in 600 BC, the port developed over the centuries and was extended during the reign of Louis XIV, when the two forts at the entrance were added: Fort Saint-Nicolas and Fort Saint-Jean.
Looking out to the Mediterranean sea, Marseille is today one of the foremost European sailing hubs: the Old Port is one of the town's 14 yachting marinas.
